How to Help

Thank you for your interest in having Catholic Charities' work as your agent to reach out to those who are in need.

Catholic Charities depends on the support of individuals, organizations and corporations to fulfill its mission. We simply could not afford to operate without the support of people like you. Your time, treasure and talent impact the level of service we are able to provide to those who seek our help. We offer many opportunities to help, including financial gifts, in-kind donations and volunteering.

Welcome Home.

Every time we get to say those words to a homeless youth, Catholic Charities has changed a life.  We have worked with that youth to find a safe and stable place to live . . . and they are no longer couch-hopping or living on the streets.  It's a major achievement.  But a house is just that -- a house -- unless we are able to provide that youth with all the comforts and supplies that make a house a home.

That's where you have the power to help us change a life!  Our Welcome Home Project provides an opportunity for groups in the community to come alongside a newly housed youth and provide that youth with kitchen, bathroom, and housekeeping supplies.

The impact?  Not only does the youth have the supplies to keep their home clean and safe, but they also feel the love and support of a caring community as they continue on the path to self-sufficiency.  It's a meaningful way for you to build a positive future for a youth in need.

If you'd like to help, we invite you to call Jeannine Boehm at 269-381-1234 and check out the list below.  This list provides suggestions of the types of items these youth so desperately need.

We hope these stories have been an inspiration to you. They are part of a series of four that we will be sharing throughout the fall.  We are only able to help people change their lives because of the support of our community -- and you.  Every gift of treasure given to Catholic Charities makes a difference. No gift is too small. No gift is too large. We have established several giving opportunities throughout the year to make your contribution a rewarding and meaningful experience.

All of our programs depend upon donations of items for use by our clients and our Wish Lists (below) includes some of the items that we commonly need for each program.  That said, we welcome other donations and encourage you to directly call the program or Jeannine Boehm (269-381-1234) to see if we can put your potential donation to good use.

To learn more about our Welcome Home Project, click here.  Welcome Home is a wonderful opportunity for your group to come alongside a youth who is just moving into their first home and provide them with supplies to keep that home safe and clean.  We provide all the information you need to change a life and turn a first house into a real home!

    Special Note for Crib Donations:

In order to ensure our youngest clients' safety, we must limit donations of cribs to those in compliance with Section 104(c) of the CPSIA. The new rules, which apply to full-size and non full-size cribs, prohibit the manufacture or sale of traditional drop-side rail cribs, strengthen crib slats and mattress supports, improve the quality of hardware and require more rigorous testing. The details of the rule are available on CPSC’s website at www.cpsc.gov/businfo/frnotices/fr11/cribfinal.pdf.  We are not able to retrofit or modify cribs which are not in compliance with these standards and cannot accept cribs which are not in compliance.
